Over 2 million microbusinesses in Poland: stats office

More than 2 million microbusinesses were operating in Poland last year, according to the country’s statistical office.

That was 5.2 percent more than in 2015 and 16.8 percent more than in 2010, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) has said.

The country’s microbusinesses reported a 7.1 percent increase in revenue last year over 2015 and a 37.4 percent rise compared with 2010, according to the statistics office.

Employment in such businesses increased by 5.1 percent from 2015 and by 13.7 percent compared with 2010, the office said.

Under Polish law, a microbusiness is defined as a business with less than 10 employees and annual sales not exceeding EUR 2 million. (gs/pk)
