The nationwide jobless rate was 0.1 percent lower last month than in August, the ministry said.

Piotr Kuczyński, from investment house Xelion, said he expected little change in the statistics in upcoming months.

“We’ve reached a stage where it will be very difficult to lower the unemployment rate further still,” Kuczyński added.

The unemployed in Poland numbered 1.12 million in September, which is 19,000 fewer people than in August.

The Central Statistical Office (GUS) is to announce the official unemployment figures on Tuesday. (aba/vb)
