The agency will be set up by the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the Polish Development Fund state investment vehicle and the Credit Information Bureau, a body run by banks.
The three organisations are hoping that the new agency will prove popular with businesses in Poland by offering services cheaper than other rating agencies, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Polish companies looking to expand most often take out bank loans, IAR added. Meanwhile the new agency will offer credit ratings of firms that will make investors more confident in buying corporate bonds and at the same time make it easier for companies to raise money to expand, IAR suggested.
