More passengers using train services in Poland

Polish railways carried almost 304 million passengers last year, the most in 15 years, officials have said.

In 2016, 292.5 million passengers used rail services in Poland, according to the Office of Rail Transport.
Ignacy Góra, the head of the office, said in a statement: "The growing number of passengers is undoubtedly proof that Poles are keen to come back to rail."
He added that train services on offer are “increasingly suited to the needs of travellers.”
Passengers are being encouraged to pick rail because of “comfortable, new or modernised trains, shorter journey times... and new, friendlier stations," Góra said.
Freight transport also shot up last year in Poland. The total mass of cargo transported by rail was the highest in five years, the Office of Rail Transport said.
