According to the paper, Poland’s Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has in the past only warned against investing in cryptocurrencies like the bitcoin, litecoin and ether, but has now launched a probe into whether Polish cryptocurrency markets violate the country’s regulations.

The watchdog is focusing on one market in particular, but the KNF said it would not disclose any information before the end of its investigation, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported.

The paper added that if the watchdog’s probe reveals a violation of the law, in addition to notifying prosecutors, the name of the market will be disclosed in order to warn the public.

Dziennik Gazeta Prawna also said that the KNF’s lawyers suspect the market might not have permission to provide financial services.
