Meanwhile, 36% have not yet decided what they want to do, said the report by professional services firm Deloitte.

The survey, entitled First Steps into the Labour Market, was conducted in 14 Central European countries, and asked 5,800 young people in total about their plans for the future.

The survey found that 51% wanted to work for someone else, a drop of 7 percentage points from 2015, while 13% wanted to launch their own business, up by 2 percentage points.

Call for education reform

Michał Olbrychowski of Deloitte was quoted by the PAP news agency as saying that young people who want to work for companies are increasingly eager to be employed by Polish firms.

Olbrychowski added that the government, in collaboration with business, should reform the education system in Poland.

"Currently this is not focused on the development of leadership skills... Without leaders, further dynamic economic growth will not be possible," he said.
