The trade fair, now in its 51st year, is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe and offers an opportunity to promote Poland’s cosmetic industry, according to officials.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency has set up a national stand to promote this sector of the economy, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Poland is the sixth-largest cosmetics manufacturer in Europe, after Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Spain.

Around 400 cosmetic firms, big and small, operate country-wide, according to the Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s Beata Jeż.

The Polish market for cosmetic products is estimated to be worth over PLN 16 billion, with employment at 16,500, in addition to a further 10,000 jobs in related sectors.

The Cosmoprof 2018 trade fair runs until Sunday.
