The Municipal Bus Company (MZA) is to pick between two bids for the delivery of 50 articulated buses and 30 twelve-metre-long vehicles. Polish company Solaris has offered to supply the 80 buses for over PLN 140 million (EUR 33 mln, USD 41 mln) in total, while Germany's MAN has quoted a price tag of over PLN 133 mln, according to money.pl.

The Municipal Bus Company says the project represents the largest investment in a low-emission fleet in the enterprise’s history.

The first vehicles are to drive off the assembly lines no sooner than next spring.

MZA has also launched a bidding process for compressed natural gas (CNG) deliveries for the next 10 years and for the construction of refuelling infrastructure.

Warsaw City Hall estimates that the capital’s public transport is used by more than 1 billion passengers every year, including over 500 million carried by buses.
