Gowin, who also serves as Poland’s minister for science and higher education, travelled to America in the company of Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz as well as health ministry officials to hold talks on enhanced cooperation in areas including scientific research and technology.

The talks are specifically expected to focus on issues related to medicine and biotechnology as well as Polish-US projects in oncological research.

Officials are also aiming to discuss plans for Polish companies to expand into the US market, according to Polish Radio's IAR news agency.

During the visit, Polish and US officials were on Monday scheduled to sign an agreement on bilateral scientific and technological collaboration in Washington.

Also on the agenda for the Polish delegation were meetings with senior US State Department officials, Congressmen, ambassadors and businesspeople.

Gowin’s US visit includes stops in Washington, New York, Richmond and Houston, starting with a meeting with US-based Polish academics on Monday.

Gowin is also expected to take part in the official launch of the new Polish Chamber of Commerce in the United States, following a recent announcement by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and US Ambassador Paul Jones.
