Job vacancies shoot up in Poland: stats office

The number of job vacancies in Poland in the first quarter shot up 28.3 percent compared to the same period last year, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday.

Unemployment in Poland in May stood at 6.1 percent, the lowest for that month in 28 years.

"At the end of the first quarter of 2018, the number of vacancies in [businesses] employing at least one person stood at 152,400 and was 34,600 up on the final quarter of 2017, a 29.4 percent increase,” the office said in a statement.

“Compared to the first quarter of 2017, the number of vacancies increased by 33,600, or 28.3 percent," the office added.
