Polish inflation at 1.7% in May: stats office

Inflation in Poland inched up to 1.7 percent year-on-year in May from 1.6 percent in April, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Thursday.

The reading was in line with a flash estimate released by the office at the end of last month.

Inflation in the country stood at 1.3 percent year-on-year in March, while the February figure was 1.4 percent, according to the statistics office.

Inflation in January stood at 1.9 percent in year-on-year terms. In December last year, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland rose 2.1 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.
