The country’s agriculture minister, Jan Ardanowski, will raise the issue in Brussels on Monday, according to PAP, which cited diplomatic sources it did not name.
The agency reported that Poland would not specify at this stage how much financial help it wanted but added that the sum could run into millions of euros.
Poland’s agriculture ministry has so far been notified that over 66,300 farms have been hit by drought amid scorching temperatures, PAP added.
The news agency reported that assessment of the losses suffered by Polish farmers was still underway.
