Polish retail sales up 5.6% y/y in September: stats office

Retail sales in Poland rose 5.6 percent in September compared with the same month last year, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday.

Sales of fuels climbed 18.4 percent in year-on-year terms, while sales of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose 10.3 percent.

Sales of clothing and shoes increased by 5.5 percent.

When expressed in constant prices, retail sales in September were 3.6 percent higher than in the same month last year, according to the statistics office.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in September were 3.4 percent lower than in August, the Central Statistical Office reported.
