Monika Fedorczuk, an expert with the Lewiatan employers’ organisation, was speaking after Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported earlier in the day that the country’s unemployment rate fell to a 28-year low of 5.7 percent in September, from 5.8 percent in August.

Fedorczuk told Poland’s PAP news agency that unemployment in Poland was likely to hit new lows in October and November.

There were 947,400 people registered as jobless in employment offices nationwide in September, down from 958,600 in August, according to the Central Statistical Office.

According to the EU’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, joblessness in Poland dropped to 3.4 percent in August, the second-lowest rate in the 28-member European Union.
