Presenting the Presidential Business Awards at a major economic forum in the southeast of the country, Duda said the winners were examples to follow for others and testimony to a great Polish business tradition.

The awards were presented in a number of categories, including Leading Small and Medium-Sized Business, National Success, International Success, Responsible Business, Best Polish Start-up, and Research and Development.

The winners included companies such as Ultratech, Ceramika Paradyż, PKO Bank Polski, Vigo System and MB-Pneumatyka, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

Entrepreneur Zbigniew Grycan, the founder of a highly successful ice cream company, walked away with a special individual award, and the Warsaw-based Hefra company, a silverware maker, was handed a special prize for a Polish company that has been on the market for at least 100 years.

This last award was presented as Poland this year marks the centennial of recovering its independence.
