Employers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany also want to lure Ukrainian workers, Rzeczpospolita said.

German job agencies are already recruiting candidates from Ukraine before new regulations easing immigration rules come into force in early 2019, according to the paper. The German government’s new policy is expected to offset the country’s labour shortages.

Czech and Slovak employers offer Ukrainian nationals salaries 20-30 percent higher than those in Poland, the paper reported.

Marian Przeździecki, the head of the Ukrainian branch of recruitment agency Work Service, said: “A large number of skilled workers may leave Poland.”

Poland’s Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers estimated that some 500,000 Ukrainian workers could migrate from Poland, which would lower the country’s GDP by 1.6 percent, according to Rzeczpospolita.
