Speaking at a meeting with businessmen in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday, Jacek Czaputowicz said that Poland was the world's 23rd largest economy and one that has enjoyed steady growth for more than 20 years.

He also said that Poland was “a frontrunner in direct foreign investments in Europe” and that Polish companies were “willing to share their experiences and know-how” in areas such as infrastructure, energy, environmental protection and the food industry.

During his visit to Indonesia, Czaputowicz met that country’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to discuss “bilateral political, economic, military, cultural and educational collaboration,” in addition to “joint projects in research and development and cooperation in tourism,” the Polish foreign ministry has said.

Czaputowicz’s busy schedule in Jakarta also included a meeting with Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), focusing on prospects for cooperation between the European Union and that organisation, the Polish foreign ministry said.

While in Indonesia, Czaputowicz on Tuesday opened a new foreign trade office for the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) in Jakarta.

The office aims to foster business ties between Poland and Indonesia.

Czaputowicz’s trip to Jakarta was the first visit by a Polish foreign minister to Indonesia in 21 years, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.
