There are currently around 21 such terminals per 1,000 inhabitants in Poland, while the European Union average is 23-25, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

An estimated 30 percent of transactions in Poland do not involve cash, IAR cited Paweł Widawski from the Non-Cash Poland Foundation as saying.

Widawski was a guest of the Impact Fintech’18 conference which started in the central Polish city of Łódź on Wednesday, IAR added.

The conference debated the future of digital technology in the finance sector, artificial intelligence systems and online payment security.
