Higher minimum wage for Poles in 2019

A higher minimum wage kicked in across Poland on New Year’s Day.

The country’s minimum monthly wage rose to PLN 2,250 (EUR 525, USD 600), from PLN 2,100 in 2018.
Meanwhile, the minimum hourly rate went up to PLN 14.70 (EUR 3.40, USD 3.90), from PLN 13.70, effective January 1.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in September the hikes showed his government wanted the Polish economy “to be based on development driven not by low wages, but by rising wages.”
The average Polish monthly wage in November was PLN 4,966.61 (EUR 1,158, USD 1,317), the country’s Central Statistical Office reported last month.
