Conference aims to boost Polish-Irish business ties

The conference was expected to see debate on innovation, collaboration and growing Irish-Polish business ties.

Ireland’s ambassador to Warsaw, Emer O’Connell, said ahead of the forum: “Irish companies are very active in Poland, with over 50 having offices or facilities ranging from software development and project management to farming equipment.”

She added: “The business links between our two countries are built on very solid people-to-people ties and a firm friendship.”

Bilateral trade between Poland and Ireland was worth an estimated EUR 3.75 billion in 2018 and is growing by around 10 to 15 percent every year, according to the Irish embassy.

After a wave of immigration, Poles constitute around 3 percent of Ireland’s population, while Polish is Ireland’s most widely spoken foreign language.

The Innovation Forum takes place in the run-up to St. Patrick’s Day, the national day of Ireland, on March 17.

Concerts, exhibitions, lectures and other events celebrating Ireland’s music, dance, culture and food will take place across Poland as part of St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Meanwhile, 21 Polish cities will turn a range of landmark sites green in a tribute to the Emerald Isle.
