Poland’s Enterprise and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz and Germany’s Economic Affairs and Energy Minister Peter Altmaier jointly opened the event, which was expected to focus on topics including industry, digital technology and energy, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

While opening the event, Poland’s Emilewicz said that Germany was Poland's largest business and commercial partner, while Poland was Germany’s seventh-largest partner worldwide.

"This is our joint huge success, but we have an appetite for more,” she said, elaborating that Poland aspired to become one of Germany’s "top five business partners."

Emilewicz told the conference that the two neighbouring countries were benefitting from robust trade ties and growing cross-border investment amid a challenging environment in Europe and the wider world.

Altmeier said that Poland and Germany were strong business as well as political partners, especially after Poland joined the European Union in 2004.

"I am very impressed with what our Polish friends have achieved over this time,” Altmeier said.

“Poland has achieved an economic miracle; we have great respect for Poland for that," he added, as quoted by the IAR news agency.
