Polish GDP grew 5.1% in 2018: stats office

The Polish economy grew 5.1 percent last year, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Tuesday.

The reading was in line with a flash estimate released by the office in January.
Poland notched up the third-fastest economic growth in the European Union in 2018, outperformed only by Ireland and Malta, the European Commission said in a report in February.
Poland’s finance ministry said last week it expected the economy to expand 4 percent this year, faster than anticipated in the country’s budget for 2019.
The ministry forecast, however, that Polish GDP growth would slow to 3.7 percent in 2020, 3.4 percent in 2021 and 3.3 percent in 2022.
International ratings agency Moody's last week maintained its credit rating for Poland at A2 with a “stable” outlook.
Ratings agency Fitch last month affirmed Poland's A- credit rating with a stable outlook.
