LNG deliveries to Polish capital's buses kick off

Poland’s state-run gas giant PGNiG Group has commenced the sale of liquefied natural gas to the Municipal Bus Company (MZA) in Warsaw.

The agreement, worth PLN 4 million (EUR 0.93 mln, USD 1.05 mln), will be in force for 12 months, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
The fuel will be used to power a 35-strong low-emission bus fleet in the Polish capital.
Maciej Woźniak, vice-president for trade at PGNiG, said, “The dynamic development in the field of powering vehicles with natural gas in Poland is possible thanks to a wide access to natural gas in the compressed (CNG) and liquefied (LNG) forms provided by the PGNIG Group.”
He added, “Natural gas is the most environmentally friendly fuel in public transport - it contributes to the improvement of air quality in Poland.”
There are about 400 buses running on natural gas in the country. The number is expected to expand to about 600 by the end of the year, Rzeczpospolita reported.
