A silver coin dedicated to jazzman, composer and pianist Krzysztof Komeda, minted by the National Bank of Poland has been voted the world’s most beautiful coin for 2011.
The coin has won the International Prize in the Vicenza Numismatica competition for “aesthetical aspect and the message conveyed”.
The coin is part of a series by the national bank devoted to Polish music, in which the first coin was dedicated to Czesław Niemen, which is square in shape, and was also the winner of a prize at a competition in St.Petersburg.
The silver coin featuring Krzysztof Komeda has been designed by Roussanka Nowakowska.
The face value of the world’s most beautiful coin is 10 zloty. (ek/pg)
