The 19th International Defence Industry Exhibition got underway in Kielce, southern Poland, on Monday. Almost 400 companies from 20 countries are presenting the latest in military technology at the show.

The exhibition also kicked off with news that the government is to inject some 300 million zloty (71 million euro) into Bumar, a Polish consortium which brings together 23 companies working in various parts of the defence sector.

“I feel that this injection of cash is a huge opportunity for our company,” one of Bumar’s international sales representatives, Peter Szlenk told Polish Radio reporter John Beauchamp.

The money, of which 90 million zloty is to be handed over by the end of this year, according to media reports, is set to bring modern technology and innovation to the Polish defence market. (pg)
