Prime Minister Tusk quipped at a press conference given on Tuesday “don’t ask me who will be finance minister in the next government, because you already know the answer – Jacek Rostowski.”

Tusk maintained that Rostowski had defended Poland from the financial crisis, and that “a key role in the next government will be played out by the finance minister.”

“The most important challenge today is to protect Poland from a second wave of [the financial] crisis,” Tusk said, adding that “this second wave is inevitable, and no-one knows how great it will be and [which countries] will be able to protect themselves from it.”

Donald Tusk also said that Poland has the “tools” and the “experience, which makes us see [the future] with responsible optimism.” (jb)
