Business to present '40 demands' to new government

The Polish Confederation of Private Employers (PKPP) is compiling a list of demands to present to the incoming 'pro-business' government, following Sunday's general election.
“By the close of this week we will present a list of 40 demands for the government,” PKPP spokesman, Jeremi Mordasewicz told the Gazeta Prawna daily.
Among the demands for the new Civic Platform-led government is a call for the creation of a ministry of entrepreneurship, along the lines of America's Small Business Administration.
PKPP Lewiatan, which takes in about 3000 companies nationwide, wants to ensure, “that stipulations concerning the running of businesses are consistent, and that these are formed with the participation of business, so that they [the laws] are positive, rather than detrimental.”
However, the free-market orientated Adam Smith Institute in Poland, although hopeful that the government will listen more keenly to business, is unconvinced that more administration is the right path to take.
“As Ronald Reagan said, the government is not the solution to the problems, but the reason,” said Robert Gwiazdowski of the Adam Smith Centre. (nh/pg)
