Two Polish business schools in FT ranking

The Warsaw-based Leon Koźmiński Academy and the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) are included in the 2011 European Business Schools ranking compiled by the Financial Times.

The former is ranked 60th, down from 39th place last year, and the latter has kept its 67th place from last year. The classification is based on the results of four rankings conducted by the Financial Times – MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in Management and Executive Education.
A spokesperson for the Leon Koźmiński Academy has told the Rzeczpospolita daily that the ranking reflects not only educational standards but also the economic situation of individual countries, one of the criteria being graduates’ average annual salary three years after graduation, calculated in US dollars.
A considerable fall in the value of the Polish currency (the zloty) has contributed to the Academy’s lower position in the list. Its graduates' average annual salary is USD 46, 900, while that of SGH graduates is USD 51, 063.
The No. 1 in the European Business School ranking is HEC Paris, followed by INSEAD of France and the London Business School.
The only Central European country represented in the Financial Times ranking – apart from Poland – is the Czech Republic. The Economic University of Prague is ranked 70th. (mk/pg)
