Hewlett-Packard (HP) is weighing up launching a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) service centre, Parkiet reports, creating up to 500 jobs.

HP already has a short-list of potential locations, according to Puls Biznesu.

Deputy head of HP Europe Jacek Levernes said that Poland is competing with Romania, Bulgaria and India for the investment, which would be HP’s third in Poland.

“This project would mean 200-500 jobs,” Levernes said. “It is however more speculative than the previous ones because it’s connected with services that require more innovation and creativeness."

A decision will be made in the first half of the year.

Puls Biznesu suggests that HP will likely look at locations in Wroclaw, Lodz or Gdansk, or less attractive locations such as Rzeszow, Bialystok or Szczecin. IBM and P&G wouldn’t comment on their plans.

Other global concerns such as Bayer, Dolby and the Bank of New York may also be interested in following in HP's footsteps.(jh)
