PM Kopacz apologises for magazine photo shoot

Poland’s Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz has spoken about a controversial photo session which featured on the front cover of Viva lifestyle magazine.

“This was the first photo shoot during my term in office. I do not have any experience in these matters,” said Kopacz, who assumed office in late September.

The pictures drew the ire of critics because they showed the head of government dressed in high-end fashion and surrounded by designer furniture. The pictures were accompanied with an index of retailers which supplied the clothes and props.

During a press conference following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, PM Kopacz told reporters that she was reluctant to take part in this type of photo shoots, and had her own reservations on whether to accept. “Today I am only sorry that I did. I will learn my lessons,” she said. (rg)
