Good Times, Bad Times is the title of the first solo exhibition of the artist in Poland. It is borrowed from a series of unpretentious photographs from 2007 that capture an urban everyday life situation: on a grey facade pigeons use the arrows of a wall clock to sit on,” Warsaw's Zachęta museum wrote

The title of the exhibition is based on Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten, a TV Soap opera which has been broadcast on Germany's RTL channel since 1992.

One of the works exhibited is Aleksandra Wysokinska/20 Jahre danach (2009), about a Polish woman who helped Jermolaewa leave her homeland of the USSR in May 1989. The video film will be displayed in Poland for the first time.

The artist prepared three works especially for the Zachęta gallery: “Once again, there is a feature on animals as workers: in this case, the role of goats when it comes to the production of argan oil in Morocco.

"The remaining two works deal with the conformity experiments developed by Solomon Eliot Asch, an American Gestalt psychologist of Polish origin, and the Soviet psychologist Valeria Mukhina, who analyses the impact of suggestion on human choices,” read the notes to the exhibition.

Anna Jermolaewa (b.1970, St. Petersburg), has been living and working in Vienna since 1989.

The exhibition runs until 10 May. It is curated by Christiane Erharter. (rg)
