Piechociński, the head of the junior-coalition partner PSL, pointed out that the conflict in Ukraine is not only a military problem, but has also caused a breakdown in demand for Polish products.

“In the categories affected by the embargo on the Russian market, our trade suffered a blow of around USD 500 million,” Piechociński said.

In an earlier interview with Reuters, Piechociński said that the “signals which are coming from Ukraine are very disturbing, because the economy there is beginning to disintegrate, economic ties are beginning to disintegrate.”

“In a black scenario of developments in Ukraine, one cannot exclude an inflow of a few hundred thousand emigrants to Poland. Looking at what has happened during the last year, one has to take into account all scenarios and be ready.” (rg)
