Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz made the announcements, but admitted, however, that a comprehensive system of electronic toll points must wait.

“I know that Poles have such expectations, that there are no traffic jams on motorways, especially during the holiday season,” Kopacz told a press conference follow a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister pointed out, however, that a number of the motorways in Poland are free to use.

“If we were to adopt a unified system [electronic toll booths] today – one which had been previously discussed by my predecessors – a charge would have to be introduced on all motorways,” PM Kopacz said. (rg)
