The man has not been named by authorities, but the mayor’s office in Poznań said that he was a civil servant in the health department.

“We have lost an extremely kind and hardworking man, [who was] devoted to other people,” Agnieszka Pachciarz, Deputy Mayor of Poznań, wrote in a statement.

Tomasz Stube, spokesperson for the Wielkopolska Provincial Office, said “We have, unfortunately, received official confirmation from the Polish Foreign Ministry. It refers to a 31-year-old employee of the municipal office, who went [to Tunisia] to rest with the Itaka travel bureau. He went there with his wife. It is sad his spouse will remain there alone now.”

The Foreign Ministry has said Thursday morning that two Poles died in Wednesday’s attack, with two others still missing. One of these was found on Friday morning. (rg)
