Polish health minister supports breastfeeding in public

Poland's Health Minister Konstanty Radziwiłł has taken a stand in support of breastfeeding in public, entering a rumbling debate on the issue.

"Breastfeeding is not only a natural act, but an act which actually deserves the widest support possible. Stigmatising women for breastfeeding in public is not acceptable," the minister said in a statement on Thursday.
Radziwiłł's comments come amid a public debate on the propriety of breastfeeding in public.
The debate was ignited by Liwia Małkowska, who claims that when she wanted to breastfeed her baby in a restaurant in the coastal city of Sopot, a waiter asked her to go to the bathroom.
She said she found this insulting and is suing the owner of the restaurant for damages and demanding an apology. (mol/pk)
