Non-one was injured but the club in the eastern district of Praga was demolished, the IAR news agency reported.

The incident happened at the Chmury club on Wednesday at around 10:40pm.

The attackers broke windows by hurling stones and threw flares into the club, IAR added.

A group of ten to 20 people “dressed in black without club colours threw stones and bottles at the hostel and club. The men ran off in an unknown direction just before the arrival of the police,” said Warsaw police spokeswoman Agnieszka Włodarska.

“In the hostel were fans of the Dutch team, who had barricaded themselves inside. No-one was hurt," she added.

Police are investigating the incident.

Legia Warszawa take on Ajax Amsterdam at home on Thursday evening in the first match of the round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League.

The two clubs met at the same stage of the competition two years ago. Then Ajax won 1:0 in Warsaw and 3:0 in Amsterdam.
