Warsaw Music Encounters opens Saturday

The 31st Warsaw Music Encounters – Early Music New Music festival will kick off on Saturday with performances of works by 20th-century Jewish-Polish composers.

Saturday's opening concert will feature jazz interpretations of works by Władysław Szpilman, Henryk Wars and Jerzy Wasowski.
The concert will continue until Friday, with different performances in various venues in the Polish capital every day.
“In total seven concerts of very different music,” said Jarosłąw Siwiński, artistic director of the music festival.
“The formula for the music encounters, which sees early music contrasted against contemporary music, and recently also jazz, really works,” he added. (vb)
