Ministry of Sport and Tourism data shows that the number of Poles heading off for winter holidays is growing from year to year, the daily said.

Last winter, 7.1 million Poles took off for a winter break, some 600,000 more than the year before, according to the daily.

This year is expected to be “exceptional”, Rzeczpospolita said.

The winter school holidays ended in Poland at the weekend.

The break means profits not only for hotels and B&Bs in the mountains, as has been the case for years, but also for such facilities located “anywhere where there are hills of any sort on which you install a ski lift,” Rzeczpospolita reported.
