Welcome to On the Ball, in which look forward to tonight’s first quarter final.

“We were the better team by far. England had a lot of luck,” an embittered Ukrainian coach Oleh Blokhin has said after his side’s defeat to England in the Group D decider on Tuesday night which eliminated the co-hosts from Euro 2012.

Blokhin is furious that the referee and his assistant didn’t spot that the ball, looped into the penalty area by striker Marko Devic, was clearly over the goal line when England defender John Terry hacked it clear, maintaining his side’s one goal advantage.

Also in the podcast: millions of Poles are celebrating Euro 2012 not only in Warsaw, Wrocław, Poznań and Gdańsk. There are thousands of fans in Kraków despite the city is not hosting any games English and Italian teams are stationing there. But millions of Silesians are are also celebrating this festival of football.

Our correspondent in Katowice, Jarosław Juszkiewicz reports from the capital of the region.
