Baltic city of Gdansk thanks Euro 2012 fans

Six video clips in six languages – that is how the coastal city of Gdansk thanks fans from Spain, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Germany and Greece for the unforgettable atmosphere in Gdansk during the Euro 2012 football tournament which ended at the beginning of this month.

Thousands of fans, a huge colourful fiesta on the streets of Gdansk, different languages, music and singing all united in a joint celebration of the football championships, which took place in the second half of last month in Poland and Ukraine.

Gdansk authorities, as the hosts of several matches, are now show their gratitude to the visitors for enjoying the city and for changing it.

Before the transmission of the final game on 1 July, all the Polish fans gathered in the city’s fan zone lifted thousands of balloons in the colours of the national flags in a gesture of appreciation of the visitors’ enthusiasm, thanking them for being in Gdansk and inviting them for future visits.

The six clips have been presented to the ambassadors of the six countries as well as to the representatives of the Polish Tourist Organisation abroad as well as Polish and foreign media.

The clips were prepared under the supervision of the Office of the Mayor of Gdansk. (ab/jb)
