Kowalczyk on course to retain Tour de Ski title

Justyna Kowalczyk won the Tour de Ski 10K pursuit in Oberhof, Germany, by 41.4 seconds over Norway's Therese Johaug and is on course to defend her title for the fourth year running.

Johaug now trails the 29 year-old Polish Olympic and double world cross country ski champion by 46.4 seconds in the tour standings.

Anne Kylloenen of Finland was third in the race on Sunday.

Kowalczyk has won 11 stages in all since the Tour de Ski championship began in 2006, more than any other female cross country skier.

The third round of the Tour de Ski championships begins in Val Muestair in Switzerland on Tuesday.

Tour de Ski finishes on 5 and 6 January in Val di Fiemme in Italy. (pg)
