Poland are currently placed third in Group H, after England and top-placed Montenegro, though the ‘white and reds’ have played one game less.

Poland are on five points, England eight and Montenegro ten.

Ukraine. Poland’s opponents on Friday in Warsaw, are second bottom in the group on just two points, ahead of group whipping boys San Marino.

Journalists allowed into a training session at the Warsaw Polonia club stadium on Wednesday got a clue as to who will be the 11 players lining up against Ukaine.

The squad was divided by coach Waldemar Fornalik into ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams for the training session. In team ‘A’ were goalkeeper Artur Boruc, plus Łukasz Piszczek, Kamil Glik, Marcin Wasilewski, Sebastian Boenisch, Daniel Łukasik, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jakub Błaszczykowski, Ludovic Obraniak, Maciej Rybus and Robert Lewandowski.

One surprise in the possible line up is the inclusion of Artur Boruc in goal, who has not played a competitive match for the national side for two and a half years.

His excellent form for Premier League team Southampton has propelled him back into the reckoning, however, and he could get the nod ahead of Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny. (pg)
