Man United and Bayern Munich are thought to be considering bids for Borusia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski, as his side prepares to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League semi finals.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the 24 year-old Polish international still favours a move to the Premier League and Borusia Dortmund – with whom Lewandowski still has one year of his contract to run – are against selling him to their arch Bundesliga rivals.

Manchester United are currently well endowed in the striker department, however, with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in the squad which won the Premier League at the weekend.

“Big signings are usually forwards, but it's complicated enough with the ones we got,” coach Alex Ferguson said last week at a press conference.

Lewandowski's move to Old Trafford seems to be tied to the fate of Wayne Rooney, who is still waiting for a final offer to a contract extension.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing the Pole.

The Polish striker has also reportedly said that he will not even consider his future until after the semi final matches against Real Madrid, the home leg of which is on Wednesday evening.

Lewandowski, after scoring his 12th consecutive goal in a league game on Saturday in Dortmund's 2 – 0 win over Mainz 05, picked up a knock to his thigh but said he still hopes to be picked for the semi.

"I felt some pain in the final minute and hope it does not swell up. I hope there's enough time until Wednesday," he said after the Bundesliga match.

Borusia Dortmund, German league champions for the last two seasons, have not won the Champions League since 1997.

All being well, Lewandowski will be lining up with fellow Polish internationals Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek in the match tonight.

Bayern Munich crushed Barcelona 4 – 0 in the first leg of their semi final on Tuesday. (pg)
