Piotr Stawarczyk scored a brace after Marek Zieńczuk opened Ruch Chorzow's account in the 18th minute in the five-goal thriller in south west Poland against FC Vaduz Liechtenstein.

Vaduz scored first for the visitors in the 16th minute in the Europa League qualifying match, however, with Florian Stahel scoring for Vaduz in the second half.

Meanwhile, Lech Poznan, last-32 participants in 2011, got their campaign off to a bad start with a 0 – 1 loss after Hidetoshi Wakui scored for Nomme Kalju in the Estonian capital.

“We have to be more effective during the return leg in Poznan,” Lech Poznan coach Mariusz Rumak said after the final whistle.

Zawisza Bydgoszcz also went down 1 – 2 against SV Zulte Waregem in Belgium in their first-leg tie in Europe's second-tier competition. (pg)
