The tournament, which comes in the lead-up to the US Open, marks a welcome change for the 23-year-old, who has struggled this season, being knocked out in the opening match of 10 tournaments.

"It means a lot to me, this kind of win,” Janowicz said after the Friday's semi.

“It's my second final after a long, long time,” he added.

“I have had a nasty losing streak this year and I'm glad to be back.”

It was certainly no walk in the park for Janowicz, however, who lost the first set and was within a whisker of losing the second.

Janowicz broke Querrey's serve while he was 4-5 down in the second set, battling back to win 7-5.

“This was a confidence-booster for me," Janowicz said.

“It's not easy to come back against Sam. If you fight, anything can happen.”

The Pole will face Czech Lukas Rosol (ATP ranking No. 33) in Sunday's final. Janowicz is currently ranked No.52. (nh)
