Turow Zgorzelec proved they are top of their game on Wednesday evening, beating Slask Wroclaw 80-75 in the annual Polish Supercup showdown.

The match pits the winner of the Polish Basketball League (Turow) against that of the Polish Cup (Slask), providing a dramatic launch to the new season.
“We wanted to start this season well, and that's how it turned out,” commented Turow player Mical Chylinski, in an interview with the Przeglad Sportowy daily.
“Slask fought for every point, and that's why the match wasn't easy for us,” he conceded.
Turow had lost to Slask in the final of the Polish Cup, making Wednesday's victory all the more sweet.
Three of Turow's top players, Filip Dylewicz, Lukasza Wisniewski and Mateusz Kostrzewski, were unable to compete, owing to injuries, but the Zgorzelec side managed to pull through. (nh)
