Krakow-native Agnieszka Radwanska went down with a whimper to Simona Hapel in the semi-final of the WTA Finals in Singapore, losing to the Romanian 6 – 2, 6 – 2 at the National Indoor Stadium.

Hapel, who crushed her Polish opponent in just 67 minutes, will now meet Serena Williams in the final – an opponent she has already beaten in the tournament when they met in the group stage.

"She was very solid from the beginning," Radwanska told journalists after the match. "She made no mistakes, everything was coming back, she was hitting the lines, everything was deep, and she was serving very well too."

Williams reached the final after a 2-6 6-3 7-6(6) victory over Polish-Dane Caroline Wozniacki.

The BNP Paribus WTA Finals gathers the top eight players in the world, and a semi-final place for Radwanska is still a good result for the Pole, ranked six in the world after a mixed 2014 season. (pg)
