The detention of Miroslaw P. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) was reported on Friday morning by the TVP news channel.
It had emerged earlier that CBA officers searched the headquarters of PZPS in Warsaw, as acknowledged by the federation.
“The Polish Volleyball Federation confirms that on Thursday 13 November the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau commenced an operation at the headquarters [of PZPS],” a short statement said.
“We will not provide any information, the operation is ongoing,” said CBA press spokesman Jacek Dobrzanski.
Meanwhile, Radio RMF FM has claimed that the head of the security company responsible for managing the September World Championship has also been arrested.
Radio Zet alleged that there were “irregularities” in the contracts for hiring companies that cooperated in the championship.
