“I can’t say that I’m happy that the tournament didn’t start [on Sunday] as I was well prepared,” Stoch commented.

“However, I will have an extra day’s rest,” he added ahead of the 63rd Four Hills Tournament, which kicks off in Germany’s Oberstdorf resort, Monday, after bad weather postponed the competition on Sunday.

“I already treated Saturday’s qualifying round as the competition proper,” said Stoch, who managed to come in 11th, adding that “I had to fight to advance to the finals”.

On his return to the slopes after aninjury forced him to step down from competing this season, Stoch said that “I love ski jumping and the news that I can compete in the Four Hills Tournament was like opening a big present for which I had been waiting a long time”.

The Four Hills Tournament is set to start on Monday at 5.30pm local time. (jb)
