Stoch managed to leap 134 metres and then 133 metres, notching up 276.2 points, putting him just under three points ahead of Austrian Stefan Kraft in second.

''It was my dream to sing the Polish anthem together with the spectators today," Stoch told FIS after his win.

"With this win I accomplished my first goal this season,'' he added.

''It was a very fair competition and I was able to perform at 100 per cent.''

Stoch has been plagued by an ankle injury over the last few months, meaning that the defending champion has had to miss several legs of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup.

''It's not my goal to chase the leaders in the overall World Cup, because this is very difficult,'' he reflected.

"But the season is not over yet, a lot is still possible. I don't have anything to lose." (nh)
